It’s Saturday so that means it’s another addition of Soleful Saturdays her e on my blog.
Today’s theme: PRE-RACE RITUAL
Tomorrow I am running the Cherry Blossom 10 Miler in Washington, DC. This was a lottery race that I entered for the 1st time this year and I got in!!! I have been excited about this race since I got notification that I was selected 🙂
With the race tomorrow, I thought it only fitting to talk about how I am preparing for the race physically and mentally.
I went to the race expo today to get my race packet. I am not sure what I expect when I go to the race expo but somehow I always think that I will find amazing deals or really good free stuff-this has not happened yet. Am I the only one?
To avoid having to look for parking, I decided that I would take the train down to the Expo. It was being held at the National Building Museum which was located right across the street from the Judiciary Square Metro. The ride down was about 40 minutes which gave me plenty of time to read a few pages of my current book The Storyteller by Jodi Picoult.
Arriving at the EXPO, I headed upstairs and picked up my packet.
The EXPO had the usual booth and vendors.
I got to look at the route in large view which was nice to clearly see where we would be running.
After picking up my packet, I headed outdoors (it was beautiful today) and walked a few blocks to meet up with my girlfriend. If this is what the scenery is going to look like tomorrow…..color me EXCITED!!!!
We enjoyed a good carb loading meal at Ben’s Next Door. Ok so maybe not really a carb loading meal but it was super yummy!!!
I picked up a few fueling items and have been hydrating pretty well for the past 2 days.
Of course I then had to get Flat Mama Meeks ready.
Charged my Garmin, my Ipod, my phone and set my alarm.
I am ready for RACE DAY!!!!
Off to bed to get some good rest.
What do you do before a race? Do you ever find good deals at the Race Expo?
Have a Fit-Tastic Day!!
