Happy Monday all!!!
I hope everyone is having a Marvelous Monday!
Last week was a nice recovery week from back to back racing weekends. The knee held up amazing well both weekends of racing and I am so thankful!
Cortizone shots are the bomb diggidy-for sure!!! I know I can’t live off these but for the sake if running and racing and enduring less pain…I will take as many as the Dr allows (up to 3 or 4 a year)
In looking at my activity last week, I did pretty well.
-Workout wise, I worked out every day I was supposed to with the exception of Friday yoga because my son was out of school and I couldn’t swing it.
-Eating wise, I am getting better at fighting off the sweet tooth, binge snacking and overall eating better. I can notice the changes in the way my clothes are fitting and my overall well being feeling.
Monday
#MoveItMonday with a 10 minute ab burning workout from @grokkerinc. Who knew your abs could hurt so much in 10 min-wowser!
Followed by some deep tissue foam rolling-hurt so good!
Tuesday:
Morning workout complete with another @grokkerinc video with @kuschfit. 30 min of cardio and strength training and perfect combination!!
Wednesday:
Another @teamlunachixdc Wednesday track workout complete!
2 lap warm up followed by dynamic stretches.
The workout today consisted of 4 1000s (2 1/2 times around the track). Distances over 800 tend to be really difficult for me on the track. I was so glad one of the Luna chix -Julie was there to be my pacer and pusher today! We ended up pushing each other past our comfort zones which was perfect.
The goal was to improve your pace each round. Julie and I were the faster runners so we had no one to give us our final 1000 times so my times are my 400/800 split times.
I did pretty well.
Round 1:
400-2:01 800:4:04
Round 2:
400: 1:50 800: 3:17
Round 3:
400: 1:51 800: 3:19
Round 4: We pushed it hard!
400: 1:44 800:3:12
Thursday:
Now I know what all the hype is about Barre!!
3rd workout with @kuschfit and @grokkerinc-loving both.
This Barre workout is intense!
Lots of lengthening and core tightness. My glutes are on FIYAH!!
Beautiful day for a visit to the pumpkin patch for my daughter’s field trip:
Friday:
Funday Friday walking with my my son enjoying the weather, the sites and the leaves.
Celebrated my dad’s bday with a family cookout at my parent’s house. Happy Birthday daddy!
Saturday:
Soccer with my son.
He played 2 games today and played well.
3 goals, 2 assists
He played goalie for a bit-had 2 saves and 2 goals scored on him.
He is loving the team and the game and I love it!
Nice early evening run-the temperature was perfect (as long as the sun was up!)
Nice scenery with leaves, streams and deer.
5 mile complete with the last mile consisting of .5 miles of hill sprints and .5 miles with the kiddies.
Great way to finish a run!
Sunday:
Football and a brunch with my football family. I over indulged on the bottomless mimosas….but I had a good time overall.
Overall not a bad week! Looking forward to another good week.
How was your week? Did you do anything fun and different?
Link up with with, Holly from HoHo Runs and Tricia from MissSippiPiddlin this week for the weekly wrap-thanks again ladies!

I am soooo glad that your knee has responded well to those cortisone shots!! I know how happy that must make you! Just remember to still take it easy!!

It is feeling good but I know it is only for a little while 😦
I totally over do it when I have no pain…there is a reason we are given pain to feel!

It looks like you had a great week! I haven’t tried Barre, although I’ve heard a lot of good things about it! I’ve done good so far staying away from the candy, but only because we haven’t bought any yet for the trick or treaters. If I had it lying around, it wouldn’t last to Halloween.

Thank goodness we don’t but candy for Hallowen since we are usually out trick or treating with the kiddie. We do go to my parent’s house though so I will have to show some restraint once I am there-lol!!!
Or I could just run like 7 or 8 mile Sat morning and it will all balance out-right?

I’ve never had a cortisone shot – I’m glad they are working for you. Sounds like a great weekend with soccer and your Dad’s birthday!

Ahhhh Tamieka, you had me at mimosas!!!! Lol. You had a very busy week and some great workouts and fun with the family. I bet you had birthday cake too huh? I’ve not tried a barre class but I hear it is quite the workout! I’m trying to work on not being so sore after my sessions. So far it’s not working…. Thanks for linking up with us this week! Appreciate you!

Sounds like you had a great week & so glad that your knees cooperated with you!
I took some much needed recovery last week. Unfortunately by the weekend pretty much everything in my life went south & the last few days have been very stressful.
Although actually a non-stressful/stressful thing happened yesterday when my sister called to wish me a happy anniversary & ask if I meant it last year when I said I’d do Thanksgiving. We live 90 minutes apart; she doesn’t allow the dogs in her house (they can stay in her mud room, but we’ve tried that & it’s a pain), so even though it will be a lot of work (not really a lot of people), it actually was a relief to me.

That sounds fun!!
I saw a few yummy looking recipes in Better Homes and Garden that i might try this Thanksgiving.

I will no doubt be buying it from a grocery store, but adding in a few things on my own. And I’m sure my mom will still make stuff; she always does.

I’m a fan of the Cortizone shot as well. I had several of them in my shoulder. I’m really glad to hear that they are helping your knee to feel a bit better.
Brunch and mimosas sound amazing! 🙂

I’m always so impressed with the variety of your workouts. That must keep it fresh and interesting! I’ve had cortisone shots in my elbow. The first one worked like magic for about 10 weeks. Amazing! The second? It didn’t work at all. You had an awesome week spending time with your kids and family. That’s what it’s all about. I appreciate you linking up with us!
