Wrapping up the week of Nov 15th

Happy Sunday everyone!

It’s been a good week of training, blogging and overall living!

Blogging:

Since October 26th I have been blog hoppping with Kristy at Runaway Bridal Planner and 77 other bloggers. It was a lot of work and a huge time commitment but totally worth it.  The only downside was that it made it hard for me to keep up with my usual blog favorites and now I have lots of catching up reading to do to see what everyone has been up to-thank Godness for a short work week and the long holiday weekend.

I had 2 spotlight days on the Blog Hop (you can read them here and here) which were fun to write and share. My favorite comments were most people’s surprise and kudos for me playing football.  It’s so funny, since I have been playing for so long, I don’t even think about how cool it is as it is just my world but getting so many compliments on me playing reminds me that it is kind of cool.

Speaking of football. I continue to be so proud of my team. This season has been our toughest season in a while due to the fact that our regular QB is pregnant. We had 3 people step in and up to play QB for us this season and we ended the season 4-4 an ranked 10th out of 18th.  I can’t remember the last time we were ranked that low.  Well, somehow we made it to the playoffs, won 2 games in the 1st day of playoffs last Sunday and made it to the semi-finals today. We played and won our first game which got us to the Championship. Sadly we lost but at the end of it, I am so proud of my ladies. I mean who does that! Who finishes the season 4-4, squeaks into the playoffs and makes it to the Championship! We do! We are a Championship team headed by a great coach (who happens to be my husband)! Of course, I would have preferred to add another Championship to our accolades today but its all good-I couldn’t be more proud of my ladies heart and commitment this season.  Our focus now is Nationals in January.

Training Week

My last half of the year is the Rehoboth Half on December 5th.  I have been doing a pretty loosey goosey training since I have been training and racing pretty much all year. My general training plan at this time has been:

Mondays-1-3 miles and abs

Tuesday: Weight Training or HIIT

Wednesday: Track

Thursday: Rest

Friday: HIIT and Yoga

Saturday: Long Run

Sunday: Football

This week I switched it up a little bit as I have transitioned back into straight weight training instead of HIIT. I plan to focus more on my strength during the off season with hopes of helping to reduce or prevent injuries next year.

This week’s training:

Monday:

Tuesday: Legs and planks@ 2:03 had my abs on FIYAH!!!

Wednesday: Track

Downward ladder from 1200-200.

Note to self-do not do a track workout the day after doing legs!! What was I thinking? LAWD HAVE MERCY!!

I still did pretty well and ran my fastest times surprisingly!
1200-5:29 [my fastest so far]
1000-4:23 [ my fastest so far]
800-3:42(I caught a cramp and walked a bit) [I think my fastest]
600-2:34 [my fastest so far]
400-:90
200-:38

Thursday:Rest

Overall a pretty good week.

I have to admit i am looking forward to wrapping up the 2015 run/race season with my last 3 races [YMCA 10k Turkey Chase, Rehoboth Half and The Jingle Bell Jog] of the year. I am looking forward to a relaxed off season.

How was your week? Did you race this weekend? Are you doing a Thanksgiving Day Race?

I have to say…..one of the most beneficial and informative month that I have had in a very long time!! The blog hop experience was so much more that I imagined it could be!! Thank you again for the opportunity!!!
This week’s post will probably be 2 or 3 or maybe less…we will see.

Looking forward to the races but looking forward to the break more.

That’s awesome that your team still pulled off making it to the championships! Rock on footballers! I too am totally looking forward to not having a race to train for and to work on strength. I did have my last race of the season this Saturday, HM in San Diego. Now it’s time to run for fun and get strong! The only Turkey Trot I will do this year is with my grandson. I will just run with him for his 1 mile race. He is 4, so happily, still needs me to run with him! Have a wonderful week!!

Really nice mix of workouts and it’s nice to have something different to look forward to in each session. I think I need to do likewise and introduce more variety! I’ve never done a 1200-200m track session before but it sounds good and I’m gonna borrow this if you don’t mind 😉 Great times!

      Thanks!

I love playing football although running is sneaking up in there 🙂

Thanks-we worked hard to get to the Championship-just wish it was a different outcome but so proud of the ladies!

Thanks-looking forward to the Turkey chase-it is my 1st time running this race. I usually do the 5k in DC but this one is closer to the house.

      Happy Thanksgiving!

I’m behind in following everyone’s blogs too! Do you notice that everyone seems happier now than everyone did in late summer/early fall? That’s the impression I’m getting at least! Your blog hopping sounds fun! And great picture of you and your “coach” !

Well that’s a statement you don’t usually hear…our QB is pregnant! LOL. How wonderful your team made it to the championships! That’s awesome and speaks volumes about the team’s commitment, determination and strength. It’s funny, your running off season will be my peak season. We have so many races around here from January to April. Everything goes quiet during the summer. I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family and appreciate you linking with us.

HaHa! I know right! When I was writing it out (our QB is pregnant), I actually laughed out loud!

We are an awesome team for sure! I am so proud of the ladies. This just drives us more for Nationals where I know we will dominate!!

Jan-April racing that actually sounds fun. Too cold in these parts for that. I will run a New Years Day Race but then not race again until April.

Happy Thanksgiving to you as well!Enjoy!!

Take 2 on my commenting attempt (after computer reboot – WordPress didn’t like me this morning). Sweet job with the track work after leg day! I’m super impressed at 90 second 400m at the end of that ladder!

Track work after leg day! Holy smokes! And :90 400, at that! Good work this week! I’ll be interested to hear what you think of Rehoboth. I am considering it for a late season half in 2016 after tri season is over. I haven’t run a half outside of a triathlon since March 2014 – finally starting to get the itch again!

      Girl!!! I don’t know what I was thinking…clearly I wasn’t!!

Thanks I think 90 is my second fastest time. I joke to myself and call myself a punk @ 90 seconds because I used to run the 400 under 60 seconds when I was in college and high school (many ions ago-lol!!)

I am not very excited about Rehoboth actually. Someone convinced me to sign up so we could run it together and now she may not be able to go…booooo. We will see how it goes.

I do love the half distance..just enough of a challenge and a push.

No racing for me this week. All of the races here in France (Paris region) have been cancelled because of the terrorist attacks. Boo. I did go out running though and am faithfully training. Have a great week.
