Just back in September I wrote a post on the importance of drinking water and hydration and how I LOVE ME SOME WATER yet, some how I am here struggling to drink the minimum of 8 glasses of water. What is happening?
Now that the weather is changing and the temperatures are getting a bit cooler ok colder, am I the only one that tends to neglect drinking water? In the warmer months, I have water EVERYWHERE and drinking water like crazy. As the temperatures have dropped, I find that my water intake has significantly reduced and my body, my energy and my mood had taken a huge hit!
In the Spring, I purchased the Infused Water Bottle with Drink Tracker from Diatta at Femme Fitale Fit Club. I excitedly and religiously used it with delicious summer fruits and fresh herbs and enjoyed the refreshing and hydrating taste of the flavored water.
As the weather changed and the delicious summer fruits have become not so sweet and delicious, I found I put my infused water bottle to the side and was drinking plain water and was finding it very hard to drink water in recent days.
This week, I dusted off the Infused Water Bottle with Drink Tracker and have decided to make a conscious effort to DRINK MORE WATER!
I found this pictograph very informative and a good reminder to me of the importance of hydration especially in the winter.
Nuun also had some good winter hydration tips for athletes.
I have always struggled with how much water I should drink daily. I know with my activity level, the average 8 glasses of water will not suffice. I Googled How Much Water To Drink Daily and got over 218 million results…WOWSERS!! I narrowed it down to using Water Intake Calculator. After entering my info it came up with close to 100oz of water. At first I was like WHOA!!! but after thinking about it, that is only a little over 4 of these, which is totally DOABLE!
I made a little alteration to the Water tracker by putting a tracker boxes on the lid to help me keep track of how many bottles I drink each day.
I will mark the top after drinking each bottle.
So far this week, I have done pretty well.
Monday: 3 bottles
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday-4 bottles.
This week’s infusions:
Gulp…gulp….I think I am thirsty!
Here are 5 ways I am going to keep hydrated during the winter:
-Drink 80z of water when I wake up in the morning and before I get out of bed;
-Have a few fruit and herb infused water recipes on hand;
-Have my fruit infused water bottle everyday and other water bottles in every location that I am in frequently (in the house, the car, at the office, etc.);
-Install a drink water app on my phone:
-Drink more tea;
Do you find that you hydrate well in the winter? Do you have any tips for winter hydration?

I definitely don’t drink enough water. I need about 100 oz as well but I aim for at least 8 cups of water per day. I drink more at home than when I’m traveling. I keep water by my bedside so I drink water before bed and first thing in the morning but during the day, I struggle. Having delicious fruit or herb-infused water handy is helpful.

I am so guilty of not drinking enough water this week. Staying at home studying all day long for exams has somehow ruined my water intake. as I type this, I’m having my second glass and will one more before I go to bed. I think it’s time I install the water app. If you know nay please share with me. Thank you 🙂

It is so easy not to get that water in! I am trying to find a good water app. Right now I have water drink reminder but I don’t find that it really reminds me – lol. I need one that makes noise and alerts and bothers me!

I slack off during the winter too. I just bought me a new 100oz jug to fill daily. If I have that and I fill it every night, I’m usually good to go. Other times I’m just lazy and don’t fill it and I pay for it with headaches

I never even put together my headaches as being dehydrated – so silly.

I keep a big water cup with me all day long at work. Sometimes I get really busy and don’t get to drink as much as I’d like. Great tips!

haha, yay – thanks!! I love my infusion bottle from Diatta! the past few says my concoction has been strawberries and kiwi… oh man yum. I use my FitBit now to track water levels. I noticed I’ve been drinking a lot more and try to end my evening with peppermint or sleepytime tea.

The tea is really a good way to get that little bit of hydration in at the end of the day.

I keep water everywhere – in my office, by my bed, in the car. I also drink at least two glasses of hot tea daily. I also go to the restroom a lot, lol 🙂

I swear the body seems to never get used to the excessive water. The runs to the bathroom could count as a marathon regularly! LOL!

I hydrate fairly well most of the time because dehydration makes me tired, crabby, and gives me headaches.
Yes, I drink less water during the winter, but I up my tea consumption — that’s how I keep better hydrated during the winter.
Because baby it’s cold up here, even if it is supposed to get up into the mid 50s this weekend — this morning was 15 and that was warm compared to earlier this week!

I had never realized how my body really responds to being dehydrated. I have become more aware of my body and how it responds to different things and the dehydration has been significant!
Drinking tea is a great way to get the hydration in and to change up the flavor.

I learned long ago about my body and dehydration. I got very sick once, got very dehydrated, and passed out.
Lucky for me, I actually enjoy drinking water!

Its my biggest problem, i just don’t drink enough water! I like your idea of ticking it off on the bottle, I may try that!

I am usually so good at it but have been struggling. Ticking it off is really helpful to me for sure.
