I am in the spotlight this week!!!

I write this on Monday…..

It’s Monday and on most Mondays on my blog, you will find a Weekly-Wrap post sharing my past week’s workouts and shenanigans.  Weekly-Wrap is a blog link-up with Holly at HoHo Runs and Tricia from MissSippiPiddlin If you are so inclined, be sure to check out not only the hosts, but the other awesome bloggers sharing their week.

Ok back to me :)…it is MY spotlight day!!!….actually the spotlight lasts all week so this post will be the featured post of the week even as I write other blog post 🙂

I am so excited to be participating again in Kristy’s Blog Hop.  Last week Kristy wrote a great post speaking why she host blog hops.  It was a great read! I really enjoyed the blog hop the last time I participated-as a matter of fact it was my best blogging experience of 2015!

If you are visiting me for the first time through the Blog Hop, I welcome you and thank you for stopping by and spending some time with me today.  I hope you hang around and check out some of my other posts as well.

In the last blog hop, I shared with my readers an Introduction to Fit Balling Running Mom and  Who is Fit Balling Running Mom Part II. If you read my About Me page, you would have seen these links there as well.

I have been thinking about what I would do differently for this spotlight day….so gonna change it up a bit but not too much.

I thought I would share with you some accomplishments that I earned during my time as Fit Balling Running Mom.

After losing over 20 lbs in the past 4 years, I celebrate keeping most of the weight in that time.  As every human being my weight has fluctuated a bit due to life happenings but over all, I have maintained being fit.

Some specific accomplishments:

-I have maintained fitting in a size 4 in most of my clothes. These runner thighs and booty some times make that hard based on the fit-lol!

-I am able to hold a plank for 2 min and 38 seconds

-I am able to squat 75 lbs unassisted

That’s me in the blue….and yes I got that flag!!

I have been playing contact flag and co-ed flag for almost 15 years. I celebrate still being able to play along and with girls who are almost twice as young as me.  I may not be as fast as them but I give my all, play smarter and still hold it down on defense and sometimes on offense 😉

Some specific accomplishments:

-This past January at Nationals, I scored the touchdown that sealed our victory in one of the 6 games we played that weekend.

-This past season, I have converted from the corner position to line-backer.  It has been a transition, but I have done well.

I ran track in high school earning an All-County accolade and finishing in the top 5 in the 400m in our state division. In college, I joined the track team as a walk on and got inured before I could make my mark.  Many moons later, I celebrate returning to running and in the past 2 years really falling back into running.

Some specific accomplishments:

-After tearing my ACL in the Spring of 2013, I was able to run a 5k 4 months post surgery.

-This past year (2015), I PRd in every race distance ( 5k-13.1) that I ran.

-I will be transitioning to a triathlete this year.

-I was selected as a Zooma Race Ambassador; USE promo code Tamieka16 for 10% off any 2016 race.

-I was selected as a Running Moms Ambassador;  join HERE for FREE!

-I have some other exciting news to share but I am not able to yet….so you will have to come back to find out about that at the end of the month 😉

I was blessed with 2 of the most awesome, sweet, brilliant, caring and I have to say beautiful children.  If you would have asked me 10 years ago is I would be married AND have kids, I would have probably laughed in your face. Well here I am a married mom of 2…there are days that I still can’t believe this is my life.

hubby's bday

Some specific accomplishments:

-Check out my 1st Mom Report Card.

-The other day I my daughter had this conversation with me:

MJ- mom can I tell you something?
Me: of course you can always tell me something
MJ-you are not only the best mom ever…you are also my best friend!

-The other day I my son had this conversation with me:

AE- mom I am so glad God choose you to be my mom. There is no other mom that I would want!

Yup had me in tears for a while! I love my kiddies!!

Well there you have it….a little more about FIT BALLING RUNNING MOM!!!

I hope you have enjoyed getting to know me 🙂

Thank you for visiting and hanging around to read a longer than usual post from me!

I really appreciate it!

I would love to stay connected:

Hi Tamieka! We connected through the first blog hop a few months ago – it’s nice to come back and see your progress! You should definitely be proud! I love that you broke up the post into each of the names of your blog (fit, balling, running, and mom). That’s really cool that you play flag football – so unique! I love that picture of you grabbing the flag – pretty bad ass! 🙂

Great job on the weight loss and keeping it off! I always struggle with keeping the weight off…even more now that I am training for my first marathon and I MUST EAT ALL OF THE THINGS! I have been successfully staying in a size 6 though – which I have not been since high school! I am also a RunningMoms Ambassador 🙂 I enjoy connecting with other running moms through the different online communities!

Wow, that’s great that you PRed in every race last year. That must have taken some training,

It’ll be interesting to hear about your transition to a triathlete. That’s something that I’d like to try but I’m such a weak swimmer I’d really need to put a lot of effort in before I’d feel comfortable in even thinking about signing up!

Not sure how I missed this post except to say I am a little behind in my blog reading and now trying to make it up at 1:30 am. I love the pic of you working out with your son on your back. Love the plank time. Love the fit – balling – mom stories. Love it all
    you inspire me!
Love the convos with your kids.

      Thank you so much!!

As i was typing it out, I was saying this is not that impressive Tamieka (I am always comparing myself to others…bad trait) but that I thought about it and was like ‘hell yeah it is!!’ Glad you think so as well! 🙂

  5. Liz says:

    Congrats on all those PR’s!
I envy your plank hold… anything in that position is death for me…. pushups, planks, mountain climbers. I haaaate it. 2Min + is truly amazing.
Keep rocking the fit life, your story is inspiring and great to see that it became more than just looking hot in a teeny ‘kini. xx
PS… the size 8 booty in size 4 pants – struggle is real! Jeans are not my friend right now.

Awww, the babies…I have my two little ones that also inspire me everyday. It’s so great that you are able to keep up with your fitness goals, especially the ‘balling,’ while maintaining the mom life, too. I know how hard it is to get any time for yourself, and I applaud you for taking that time!

What an incredible journey! You are a beautiful soul and I LOVE that you are still kickin’ butt out on that football field! Conrgats on that! I’m looking forward to reading more of your posts! Thank you for sharing.
I really admire you for getting back to running after such an injury. I want to say I’d be afraid to run again, but I’m that crazy runner chick that ran a full marathon KNOWING I had stress fractures in my foot and breaking my toes during a Spartan race, but finishing anyway!
Way to be a bada$$ momma & what a terrific example you’re setting for your kids!

a marathon on a stress fracture and broken toes…..who is a basa$$$…YOU!! That is amazing!!

I was so determined to get back to playing football so running had to start to be able to cut and move…..and then the love for running came in 110%!

Wow, flag football! That is something for sure. Looks a bit too intense for me, but I admire you for doing it! 🙂
Amazing that you PR’ed so much last year in all your running distances, that’s so cool! I see that you’ve run up to a half marathon, any plans for a full? It’s quite a challenge, but man is awesome.

No plans for a full anytime soon. I suffering from sever arthritis in my right knee..so transitioning from running longer distances as I decide remedies for the knee. I do want to do one thought before I hang the sneaks up.

That picture of you on the field is amazing! So fast, fit, and determined! I bet the youngsters have nothing on you!! You have a beautiful family and very loving (almost had me in tears there). I think it’s so cool that you play such an aggressive sport. I bet it’s a blast but you gotta be tough. Great role model for those little cuties of yours.

Thanks!! it is one of my favorite shots. The girl was well on the other side of the field and has legs like a gazelle but I got a good angle and got her 🙂

I know right…they melt my heart and make me teary eyed often….

I love being able to get my aggression out in a safe way.

    • fitballingrunningmom says:

the PR squat will be broken this year!!!

Yes 2015 was unbelievable for me…I am really nervous about 2016 because I don’t know how it will top it but thinking I just need to enjoy every moment of 2016.

      Thanks…they melt my heart!

  10. Missy Boser (@melissajillane) says:

I love getting to know more about some of the bloggers I already follow! Congrats on PRing all your race distances in 2015! I have that as a goal this year! I am a ZOOMA ambassador too! I am not sure how I didn’t know you were one too! I am hoping to make it to one of the races this year. I am working hard to make it work. My fiance and I are getting married so there isn’t a lot of extra time off left. I was accepted to represent the virtual race. Maybe we can meet in person!

Wow, so much to feel good about ! I am amazed that you play contact and co-ed flag. Contact sports are not my thing, even less so if men are involved. Your kids are too cute… take advantage of them, my eldest has started looking at colleges. I have no idea how that happened.

And PRing in every race distance this year ? You rock ! Have a great week.

    • fitballingrunningmom says:

the contact let me get my aggressions out in a safe manner-ha!! The contact is only with the women…I played once with men and ended up in a fight with a man…not a good look (I won by the way-lol!)

Thanks,,,they are my heart!! I don’t even want to think about them getting older…my oldest will be 8 in April and I just can’t believe it! College!!!…I am not ready!!

Yeah 2015..was an amazing year. I pushed myself past my comfort zone and came out on top!!

thanks-have a great week as well!
