Another wet, dry and blah day here in the DC area. I am sooooo over this weather.
Mother’s day was lovely with temps in the 70s and plenty of sunshine!!! I guess Mother Nature knew how important that day was 😉
Joining Deb for today’s Wednesday Word
Today’s word: Dilemma
-
a situation in which a difficult choice has to be made between two or more alternatives, especially equally undesirable ones.
At first thought, I thought I had a great post planned out for today’s Wednesday Word and then as I looked at the definition of dilemma, I thought hmmmm I never really looked at dilemma in that way. I usually think of dilemmas as to do or not to do….not so much difficult decisions but just should I do this or do that instead.
So I thought I would just write about the daily dilemmas that I encounter everyday:
-To hit the snooze or not to hit the snooze…..usually hitting the snooze wins. I have had to set an alarm on my second phone (which I have put in the bathroom), to make sure that I get up out of the bed.
–To follow the prescribed workout plan or do one that fits the schedule.……usually it is combination of both. The new training I am doing requires alot of time, so I find myself doing most of the moves but I may cut down the reps to make sure that I am done by time my ‘Workout Done’ alarm goes off.
–Coffee in my protein shake or not…..I found a plant based protein powder at Costco. It is in creamy fudge. It is actually pretty good by itself but I love putting flavored coffee in my morning protein shakes too. So usually coffee wins.
–To have egg white again or not…..my usual morning breakfast is egg whites with oatmeal or sweet potato. I try to mix up the flavor and the blah of egg whites by adding salsa or avocado, etc but I tell ya….I am so over the egg whites. I know there are other protein rich, healthy breakfasts I can have…but the morning are so busy that egg whites are so always the quick solution. Any suggestions/recipes for me for other breakfast options?
–To cook the kiddies breakfast or will it be cereal again…… yeah remember how I talked about the mornings being so rushed….so cereal it is most mornings. I too pair it with fruit though. If I pre plan the night before, I am able to cook them breakfast in the mornings but pre planning is not quite consistent yet. (a work in progress) My new plan was to make a batch of pancakes on Sunday with boiled eggs so that I can pop them in the microwave for 30 seconds and BAM! Breakfast!….that plan hasn’t happened yet….but it will.
–What to wear…..between this Seattle like weather and my office feeling like Alaska in February, I have the hardest time figuring out what to wear every day.
–What to cook for dinner (oh crap…as I am typing this I realized I forgot to take meat out for dinner…uuugh!!)….Somehow, I have become that lady that sometimes cooks 2 meals at dinner. I am working on cooking one meal and doing as my mom did (if you are hungry, you will eat it!) My kids are pretty good at eating whatever I cook, the hubby….not so much-lol!!
–To go to bed on time or not….I have 10:30 as my bed time. Lights off, mask on, go to bed!! Often, my daughter is up way past her bedtime and tends to come into our room when she can’t sleep. So my bedtime is often interrupted by her. I also tend to be on my phone or computer and as we all know this is a no…no for a proper bedtime ritual. I have set another scheduled break on my phone through the Quality Time to turn off my phone at 10pm. This has helped me shut down at 10, read a bit and fall asleep….until my daughter comes in that is.
Well there you have it folks a look at my daily dilemmas.

Everyone who linked up this week seemed surprised by the definition 🙂 I was also surprised that it was a choice between two undesirable options… why does it have to be undesirable? That’s not what I think of when I hear the word dilemma.
Whether or not to snooze is a big one for me every day! I am SO bad about snoozing. I really need to try putting my phone on the other side of the room or something. I feel a lot better throughout the day when I get up the first time my alarm goes off, but that’s awfully hard to remember from my soft pillow and my warm bed 🙂

I love getting up early – most days. My dilemma is going to bed on time or getting a few more things checked off my to do list. Usually the list wins!
Thanks for linking up!

This is a really great list of daily dilemmas. I was joking the other day that “What do you want to do for dinner?” is the most commonly asked question in any marriage!
One of my biggest and most frequent dilemmas is when someone asks me how I am doing. Do I tell them I am doing fine, or do I tell them the TRUTH? LOL

The bedtime routine is def my struggle too! My girls have been staying up later and I have a bad habit to be on my computer late!! I love that you set reminders on your phone…I am going to try this!

The reminders are so helpful! I would stay up until the wee hrs in the morning if I didn’t.

Sometimes just getting up for work is a dilemma for me! I’d love to stay in bed. That’s why I workout in the morning. Getting up for a workout? No problem. But work? Meh.

Ha @ work..meh! my job is pretty low key and flexible so I really don’t mind coming to work. My struggle is getting up to workout…I enjoy it but I also enjoy my bed-lol!

Thanks for sharing that glimpse into your daily life. Funny that it’s your hubby who you have to cook the second meal for… What does he (not) want to eat?
Getting up early is the biggest battle I fight. Sometimes I wake up early but then I am so groggy that it feels like wasted time becusse nothing is getting done… At least not done properly.
My biggest dilemma is about eating healthy. Every snack opportunity is a struggle – to give in to my cravings or focus on my weight loss goals.

Ha-right!! His family is from the south so he wants all that southern food…that I don’t cook. He has to go to his moms and get that stuff! lol!!
I hear you…sometimes the alarm goes off and I jus can’t. the tiredness or the grogginess is too much!
Healthy eating….STRUGGLE!!! as I snack on a handful of swedish fish as I type this!!!

Lol. I didn’t eat all day so I just rewarded myself with a Payday bar too. I don’t know if it’s a reward since I’ll be trying to run it off later but it felt good!
Salads are great but sometimes only some candy can work on the commute. Why, oh why is that!

Just like you, Oh every morning me and my alarm snooze button have this war, LOL I am not adjusting well to having a daily schedule and waking up everyday because I have to. I know that sounds terrible but while I worked a ton before, it was mostly all on my own time so it allowed for significant flexability. I forgot how it feels to be ruled by alarms and time clocks, LOL
If it helps ya, this week I started doing a new thing with the “what to wear” I started actually laying out my outfits the night before. granted I do this so I can hit snooze more, LOL But it saves so much time in the morning staring at my closet LOL

The snooze hit in the morning…..the struggle is REAL!!!
I think I might have to try the clothes lay out. It is funny,I do that for the kids but not for myself…typical mom behavior!!

I am tired of my egg + toast breakfast, but I don’t know what else to have either! It works for me nutrition-wise but gets boring after a while.I can hit the snooze button once but I have to get up when my husband’s alarm goes off for the first time to beat him to the bathroom. 😉

A constant dilemma for me is the bedtime thing. I am a night owl, and my brain will not shut down before 11:30 (even if I’m horribly sick). And, I don’t have any problem getting up, but I realize this routine will crash and burn on me someday (probably sooner than later)…..
