Happy Wednesday all!!

If you are a regular to the blog, you know what Wednesday’s on the blog mean….I get to join Deb and other bloggers as we interpret Wednesday’s Word.  This week’s Wednesday’s word is perfect for the Holiday Season!

Today’s word: DECORATE

dec·o·rate

verb
1.
  1. make (something) look more attractive by adding extra items or images to it.
2.confer an award or medal on.

When I last blogged I shared with you that we were counting down to my daughter’s  (MJ) 1st competitive gymnastics meet.

We survived it and proud to report that MJ did well (not that I had any doubt!) at the Christmas on the Chesapeake meet. The meet was holiday festive and decorative down to the tree bulbs.

She was decorated in sparkle and bling on her leotard!

She earned a score of 32.75 with her highest score of 8.9 on the vault.  That 8.9 score earned her an 8th place overall (out of 47 gymnast)! She was so happy to be decorated with a medal for her efforts!

A full recap with plenty of pictures will come in a few days 😉

Well it is the holiday season! I have to admit, before children decorating for the seasons is all I would do. For Fall, I would put a few more hints of orange and red to the decor and change out the candy dish to a leaf dish. For the Winter/Holidays, a bit of red , white and silver and the candy dish is a glass holly dish. For the Spring/Easter, a few pastel colors and brighter flowers and the egg shaped candy dish. For Summer. brighter flowers and a sunshine candy dish.  Yup pretty basic for sure.

When I had children and they get excited about the seasons and the holidays, well I just had to match their excitement and do a bit more decorating.

For the past few years, decorating has become a bit more elaborate with the 1st few years of a Santa Hat being the holiday decoration..lol!

We have stepped it up a bit adding a snowman:

and this year….a few more lights:

A few more Santas:

The biggest improvement this year….. A REAL CHRISTMAS TREE!!!

And one that we picked out and cut ourselves!!

It was so fun decorating the tree and the kids had a blast!!

I see much more decorating in our futures and I can’t wait to do it with them!!

Do you decorate for the holidays or the seasons?

      Thanks!!

Proud mama indeed…I got all teary eyed when they called her name for her medal!

I hope they do….it feels like the memory has faded already…no one ever remembers to water the tree..lol!! It is pretty though and they still do talk about selecting it and me cutting it down 😉

There’s so much to love in this post. MJ looks great in her sparkles and 8th place out of 47 is a wonderful accomplishment. Kudos to her!
I love the Christmas tree and that you cut it yourselves is just plain awesome. Enjoy the holiday season my dear. I haven’t decorated yet. I’m not sure what I’m waiting for but I have to do it in the next couple of days. It doesn’t help that I’m mostly solo for the holidays but I need to get into this holiday spirit nonetheless. Tinsel and glittery balls coming soon to a location in my apt. 🙂

Congrats to your adorable daughter on her great gymnastics performance. She should be very proud!

Bill and I have never gone out to pick out and cut down a tree and it’s something I regret not doing with our sons. Yesterday, I wrote about how much I loved going out on the farm with my dad to cut down our tree when I was little.

    Thanks for linking up!
