Runfessions-October 2015

Runfessions-300x295

So my 1st Runfession would be that I missed the Friday post of Runfession-haha! So here we are on Saturday. I really can’t believe it is time for another purging of Runfessions….2015 is almost over-can you believe that there are 61 days until 2016! Wowsers!

Linking up with  Marcia for Runfessions.

Feel free to share your runfessions and also check out what others are runfessing!

I runfess, that I may be being too over confident for my last half in December.  I did a very lax training for Ragnar and RnR Brooklyn and did very well in both and so feeling like I will be able to knock out my last half with no much training.  I know that is not the case so i am getting things in order for this week coming to get more focused and prepared.  I have just over a month (34 days to be exact)…i need to get my -ish together!

runfess, that a few weeks ago at my track workout, there was a new girl who I was not nice to (that is so not me).  She came in with a bit of a competitive edge (which I totally respect) but she went about it the wrong way. On of the things that I like about the track sessions is that the atmosphere if one of support and running for you.  There is no competition (per se) and everything we do is at YOUR best effort.  We always use each other to push ourselves harder but never in a way to taunt or tease. Well she being new didn’t know that and as we were running a few of our sprint, she kept saying to me that she was going to ‘draft’ me. Not the way of using me to block wind as often done in biking but meaning she was going to pass me.  Uggh this got under my skin and for the rest of the work out, I crushed her! I felt good at the time to shut her up but felt badly that I let her get to me and change the spirit of the track workout atmosphere for me.

runfess, that I have decided instead of not running any half marathons per the dr.) next year, I will run at least one and maybe 2. I have really falling in love with the half distance and am finding it really hard not to participate in something that I enjoy.

runfess,  that since my track workout on Wednesday, I have had a funny twing feeling in my ankle and Achilles that I am going to ignore. I am using positive energy and thoughts to will the pain away. Ok..ok, if it is still hurting by Monday, I will talk to the dr.

runfess,  that I had total race envy and guilt last weekend with the Marine Corps Marathon. I totally should have signed up for the 10k…..and should have been there to see and support so many of my friends running in both races.  Next year!

Ahhhhh, I feel better now! Thanks for allowing me to get that out!

Do you have any Runfession? I would love to hear them?

I love this post. Runfessions! Seems like you have a good heart so you might have been a little quick to react to someone but you felt remorse afterwards. Did you get a chance to talk with her since?
The doctors warning sometimes is a guide. You know best how you feel whether you can compete. If you go for it, be careful!

      Thanks!

She has been back to a track workout-I said hello but did not speak further. At the end of the track workout, she wanted to run a little more and I non-verbally waited for her. She totally rubbed me the wrong way but I am working on letting it go 🙂

Yes-I will take the Dr. advice and tread carefully and lightly.

      Thanks for stopping by!

That’s kind of ballsy of that girl to talk to you like that especially being new. I can’t imagine someone saying that! Make sure you are stretching those calves where the achilles/ankle issue is….could just be a tight calf?

I runfess I’ve never run on a track! I love the half distance too! It’s very difficult not to do something you really enjoy. Unfortunately I have an injury preventing that right now. I hope your ankle/Achilles is better. I have had problems with that in the past and it certainly is no fun! It is great getting to know you more through the hop!

The track workout have been such a love/hate-let me tell you!!!

You have been rocking your swims and your biking. I know it is not running but you are totally rocking them!!!

Foot pain is still there but fading (I am hoping that is a good thing)

Oh no, hope your ankle/achilles pain isn’t anything too serious!
My runfession? Well, I’m a really novice runner, and to be honest, I really only like running races. One day when I have more time and a better place to run I’ll change my mind, but it’s tough to just get out there and run.

Thanks..feeling a bit better but now I have some weird pain in my lower back…ugh!!!

It is tough to get out there and run….I swear I do it for my sanity though…the moments by myself (without hubby and the kids) make me get up and go!

The trash talk would have thrown me for a loop as well! I don’t think you were mean at all to her. She encouraged you to up your game and you did. Watching MCM and then NYCM makes my trigger finger very antsy. I’ve been shopping races like crazy.
    Thanks for linking up!

That stinks that the girl brought some negative energy to the track workout! I have found that runners are normally very supportive of each other, so when I am faced with someone negative, it is shocking! One time, after a trail race, the woman who came in right behind me (I got 2nd, she got 3rd) said to me, “If this was a road race, I would have beat you.” I could not believe she said that!

I know a LOT of people who ignore dr’s advice & live to tell the tale. Hopefully that will be you, too.

Consider your last half a fun run. That’s how I handled Annapolis, when it was just 3 weeks after my other half. And then there was the heat — very unlikely you will have to deal with that!

I have such race envy you wouldn’t believe. Even though I know right now I need to be right here. Such is a runner’s life.
