2016 Goal Review

At the beginning  of 2016, I set some goals for myself.  Seeing that we are counting down to 2017, it’s the perfect time to check in and see how I did with those 2016 goals.

Blog:

*Blog at least 3 times a week….Goal Achieved!

Outside of my blog break over the summer, I would say on average, I blogged at least 3 times a week.

*Increase blog subscription to 100: Not Yet Achieved

I am at 81 followers and proud and appreciative of every single one of you! Thank you!

Find my authentic blog voice…..Goal Achieved and still a work in progress

I continue to think that I am really developing my blog voice.  I continue to blog about things that I am familiar and comfortable with and stay away from what I am not.

At the beginning of the year, I found myself accepting products to review on the blog a bit too much. I have surely slowed down on those opportunities but will continue if the right products are offered.

*Continue to find my ‘blog tribe’…..Goal Achieved and still a work in progress

I am continuing to develop a nice blog tribe. Bloggers who blog about the same things that I do and a few that don’t but still fit into my tribe ;).  Bloggers who visit often, like and share my posts and comment.

THANK YOU LADIES!!

*Create a Mission Statement for the Blog: Goal Not Achieved

Moving this to 2017

Personal:

  • De-Clutter/Organize my house: A work in progress

I am off this week and focused on finishing this by the end of the year.  I will start 2017 with the house in order!!

So far I have completed the kitchen, living/dining room, entryway, stars and upstairs hallway. Left to do: 1 1/2 bathrooms and 2 bedrooms.

I GOT THIS!!

Family:

*1 Family night a week….A work in progress

With the kid’s activities, our week nights continue to be jammed packed. Our only non activity night is Friday and truth be told when Friday comes around I just want to sit on the couch and binge watch Netflix!

My shift is to look at Saturday afternoons or evening as our scheduled family time but this is all dependent on my daughter’s gymnastics meet schedule. I will continue to work on it!

*1 date night a month….EPIC FAIL!!!

Not 1 the entire year and to be honest with you all (without going into too much detail), our relationship has suffered ;(

*Be more present at home….Goal Achieved

Using the Quality Time app, has really helped me to be more present when I am with the kids. The hassle to turn off the app is not worth it, although I have to admit, I grab my phone a few times and then realize I can’t get into it..lol!

Financial Balance: Goal Achieved

For those of you who may not know the back story to this, 3 years ago my husband got laid off and was out of work for almost a year. Shortly after he found work, I quit my job to support my mom through a health crisis. Needless to say, we went  through a great bit of our savings and our financial picture went from sunny to quite bleak.

Putting aside pride and embarrassment, I committed to righting the ship and turning my financial outlook back to sunny.

I am proud to say that with discipline and determination, the clouds are clearing and the sun is shining bright.

I still have 3 outstanding debts (outside of my house), to pay off but I am on payment plans and doing well.

I have not missed any payments and have paid all payments on time!

*Complete the 52 week Money Challenge…..Goal Achieved!

savings-plan

My girlfriend was a great support to me to accomplish this goal. Having this saving plan allowed me to save for things that come up in the year and not have to stress (too much) about being able to pay for it.

Health and Fitness:

*Successfully train for and participate in my 1st Triathlon….Goal Achieved!!

*Consistently strength train 2-3 times a week….Goal Achieved!

I did slack a little bit on this during triathlon training however, during my off season, I have gotten back to the weights and will carry that over into 2017 and 2017 Triathlon training.

*Remain Injury Free:…Goal Achieved!

So far so good. Outside of the pain in my knee from my arthritis, I have not developed any new injuries!

Running…A work in progress

*Determine my comfortable race pace for varying distances….Goal Not Achieved

To be honest,I am not quite sure how to go about this. Any suggestions?

*Increase my speed…a work in progress

I let my knee stop me from working and trying my hardest at track this year and my pace suffered. I need to get some good work in over 2017.

Overall, if I had to give myself a grade for my 2016 goals, I would give myself a strong B. I dropped a few goals that I knew I would not achieve by the end of the year and for that, I lowered my grade.

Either way, I am proud of every goal that I made effort towards and super proud of every goal that I achieved!

2017 goals are swimming around in my head and I will put them down on paper and to the blog soon.

Being a goal oriented person, I loved this article. Rightly said, it’s all the baby steps that add up to where we finally want to be. Those are some well balanced goals. Congrats on all your little successes and may 2017 be your year! Happy Holidays!!

Haven’t looked back at this year’s goals or made new ones!

I tend to have a lot less goals. This year, not much thinking went into goals!

I’m sorry that there’s been a struggle on the marital front. It’s so hard to be a working mom AND make time for your SO. 2017 is a new year!

I really need some time to think about goals . . .
